BT Chosen for Second PSN Framework
OREANDA-NEWS. June 22, 2012. BT has been selected in eight different categories under the UK Government’s new Public Services Network (PSN) Services Framework, announced today by the Cabinet Office. The move establishes BT as a leading supplier of PSN services to the public sector, having already been selected under the PSN Connectivity Framework.
The PSN is the foundation of the Government’s ICT Strategy, which aims to provide an assured network for sharing services - including many GCloud services – and encouraging efficiency and collaboration across the public sector. This latest announcement concerning the PSN Services Framework, enables BT to provide a range of services which are expected to improve value-for-money and stimulate collaboration between public organisations.
BT came through a demanding selection process to secure eight lots on the Framework, meaning BT can now supply its entire core portfolio of services to central and local government, the NHS, voluntary organisations and other public sector bodies. These services range from telephony, contact centre and audio conferencing, right through to network-centric IT services such Local Area Network management, hosting, gateway and web services.
Neil Rogers, President, Global Government, BT Global Services, said: “We’re very proud of BT’s role in helping develop and implement the Government’s vision for IT, so we’re naturally delighted to be on both PSN Frameworks. This means that as well as helping major government departments like HMRC and the Ministry of Justice connect to PSN, we can make our nationally available, world class portfolio available to all public service organisations.”
Craig Eblett, PSN Programme Director, Cabinet Office, said: “, I welcome BT’s success in securing a place on both PSN Frameworks. BT recognises the increased competition the Frameworks will bring so I look forward to BT continuing to invest in PSN, delivering savings for the public sector and helping drive innovation.”
Mark Langdale, PSN Lead, BT Global Services, said: “We believe PSN is more than just a network of networks for the IT crowd. We see it becoming a catalyst for innovation across all professional groups in the public sector - giving them real opportunities to save costs, transform the way they work and above all, improve public services for citizens across the country.”
