Wizz Air Announces 7th Polish Airport: Lublin
OREANDA-NEWS. June 22, 2012. Wizz Air, the largest low-cost, low-fare airline in Central and Eastern Europe, today announced it will start flying from Lublin to/from London-Luton and Oslo from Winter 12/13. These two low-fare routes will carry over 50,000 passengers per year and support 50 local jobs.
Wizz Air is renowned for growing tourism between Western and Eastern Europe since 2004 and its low fares support traffic growth and jobs at airports providing low cost facilities. Lublin airport is the latest addition to Wizz Air’s network of now 78 airports across 27 countries.
Wizz Air’s Lublin route to London-Luton starts 18 December (operating Monday’s and Friday’s) and is on sale from today with the Lublin-Oslo route commencing in early 2013 and going on sale soon. Early bookers on the Lublin – London-Luton route can book now fares from PLN75 (including mandatory taxes and highest booking fee).
“We are pleased to announce our two new low-fare routes from Lublin to/from London-Luton and Oslo. Polish hospitality has been advertised all across Europe during the Euro 2012 encounters and Wizz Air’s low fares make it possible to capitalize on this renewed interest in Poland as an excellent tourism destination. Students on a budget are our most loyal customers and the strong student community in Lublin will welcome our low fares to visit home or inviting their friends and families – because now they no longer need to drive for hours to Warsaw. Lublin’s people and visitors will save money every time they book their flights at wizzair.com”, - said Daniel De Carvalho, Corporate Communications Manager at Wizz Air.
“This is a historical moment. Today marks the beginning of another stage that brings us closer to the official opening of the Lublin Airport. This agreement with Wizz Air is an important step for us which shows that our dream of having an airport is finally becoming reality. I am glad that we have been able to keep our word, and as promised, we're starting to build our network of connections in June”, - says Grzegorz Muszynski, president of Port Lotniczy Lublin S.A.
