Kyiv to Increase Works on Development of Transport Infrastructure
OREANDA-NEWS. June 22, 2012. Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov held a meeting on the perspective plan for development of transport infrastructure in Kyiv.
According to the Prime Minister, the 2012 UEFA European Football Championship in Ukraine has shown tremendous potential of our state. "Euro 2012 was a test for us. We have seen that we can not only implement large-scale infrastructure projects, but we have shown the world that we are capable to perform the most complex problems" - Mykola Azarov said, adding that Ukrainian builders gained invaluable experience.
So, according to him, all the planned tasks for the transport infrastructure of the capital are completed. In particular, in preparation for Euro 2012 11 city streets has been renovated and modernized. But this is just the beginning, the Prime Minister said. The Government has set ambitious goals and to fulfill them we need to spend a lot of effort and finance.
"We have the task now: radical modernization of transport infrastructure of the capital. We need Kyiv develops and Kyiv residents, visitors feel comfortable. We must do even more beautiful Kyiv" - Mykola Azarov said.
During the meeting, Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov has been familiar with the list of major infrastructure projects to be implemented in 2012-2013. In particular, it was discussed the launching of high-speed tram to Troeschyna. The head of Kyiv City State Administration Oleksandr Popov assured that it can be done actually till the Independence Day of Ukraine: "The works are carried out according to schedule, and we can to do it in time". In addition, this year, the works on construction of subway to Troeschyna will go on, the first station of this line the Kyiv CSA is going to open in 2013 year. Also the construction of Podolsky bridge crossing is activated, the traffic on which is scheduled to open next year.
The Prime Minister also was reported that the construction of the subway to Teremky is ongoing. Next station of the line will be commissioned in October of this year.
However, now the capital authorities are working on the project of building exits from Saperno-Slobidska st. to Stolychne highway, reconstruction of transport interchange at the intersection of Peremogy Avenue (Shulyavka overpass), reconstruction of the transport interchange at Leningrad square. Also, the issue of building a road to the airport Juliany now is resolved.
Mykola Azarov stressed the need to minimize the inconvenience for most car owners, related to restriction of movement in the construction of bridges and interchanges.
