OREANDA-NEWS. June 20, 2012. According to the results of January-May Novosibirsk Airport (Tolmachevo) has handled 1,119,405 passengers that is a 25.2% higher than last year. Number of passengers on domestic flights amounted 703,244 persons (+22.1%), on international flights - 416,161 (+30.8%).

From the beginning of the year the airport has provided the operating of 6,851 sorties (+10.3%).

The most popular foreign destinations in the first five months of 2012 were Bangkok, Phuket (Thailand), Beijing (China), Antalya (Turkey), Dubai (UAE) and others. The most popular Russian destinations were Moscow, St. Petersburg, Khabarovsk, Vladivostok, Yakutsk and others.

In May 2012 passenger traffic at the airport has increased by 18.1% compared to the same period of last year and reached 245,561 people. 154,794 passengers (+15.5%) were served on domestic flights, and 90,767 passengers on international (+22.8%).

In May 1,506 sorties were carried out (+7%).

For the first five months of 2012 10,617 tonnes (+39%) of cargo and mail were handled at the airport. Cargo flight program at the Tolmachevo airport  is performed by such airlines as Aeroflot, AirBridgeCargo, Volga-Dnepr, Air Cargo Germany, Cargolux, and others.

The Novosibirsk Airport (Tolmachevo) is the largest air hub East of the Urals on major transit routes between Europe and Asia. The capacity on domestic flights is 1,800 passengers per hour, on international flights - 750 passengers per hour. The airport has two runways. According to business plan in 2012 The Tolmachevo Airport plans to serve 3,155 thousand passengers that is 14% higher than in 2011 and handle more than 26,000 tons of cargo and mail that is 28% more than in 2011.
