OREANDA-NEWS. June 21, 2012. Within the framework of implementation of the project for the construction of a management information system for the offshore ice-resistant fixed platform PRIRAZLOMNAYA, professionals of Energy Consulting/Integration have completed their training in the Admiral Makarov State Maritime Academy and obtained Helicopter Underwater Escape Training international certificate, reported the press-centre of Energy Consulting.

The project on the offshore ice-resistant fixed platform consists of installation, start-up and commissioning phases and performs for OJSC Industrial association SEVMASH – one of the largest Shipbuilding Facility in Russia, incorporated in OJSC United Shipbuilding Corporation.

The offshore ice-resistant fixed platform PRIRAZLOMNAYA is a unique complex unit not only in terms of work conditions. The platform is based in the Pechora Sea and located 60 kilometers offshore. Onsite delivery is carried out by a helicopter from Varandey town through the border control.

Given the scope and complexity, the work on the platform is comparable to aerospace development. Work arrangements took much longer period of time because one should estimate the ability to access and placement of the required number of professionals on the site, safeguard in the course of work at the industrial facility, providing a workplace if any communication channels, traditional for urban conditions, are absent, as well as ensuring the ability to have leisure after a 12-hour shift.

For the safeguarding of the group of EC/Integration professionals engaged in the project it was resolved to perform helicopter emergency escape training for them in the Saint-Petersburg Admiral Makarov State Maritime Academy. The training course consisted of two parts: theory and practice. The theory was focused on instructions and advices relating to the behavior and survival techniques in extraordinary circumstances. Then the professionals had a chance to know all difficulties of such situations in practice, in particular, helicopter escape in controlled, semi-controlled and uncontrolled landing modes with use of personal safety devices enabling to swim afloat at the bottom of up to 15 meters well.

The Helicopter Underwater Escape Training certification of the professionals of Energy Consulting is a unique competitive advantage of the company for the participation in other projects on the shelf facilities within the framework of the planned long-term state program for oil-and-gas field development on the Russian shelf.
