GE Energy Localizes Operations for Its Canadian Customers
OREANDA-NEWS. June 14, 2012. GE Energy’s (NYSE: GE) Industrial Solutions business celebrates the five-year anniversary this month of its Canadian Assembly Centre, exemplifying the company’s commitment to providing timelier, cost-effective service to its customers operating in Canada. The centre, which offers a wide range of electrical distribution product solutions—including power panelboards, switchboards and lighting panelboards—is centrally located in Mississauga, Ontario, and is designed to meet the unique needs of Canada’s customers, particularly those in the commercial construction industry.
For example, GE’s team at its Canadian Assembly Centre was integral to the overall success of the USD 200 million redesign of the EPCOR Tower in Edmonton, Alberta. EPCOR is a supplier of water and wastewater services in Edmonton and other communities and also an electrical-transmission and distribution utility. EPCOR’s 28-story tower is the first high-rise office tower built in the Alberta capital in more than two decades. With its strong commitment to sustainability, EPCOR insisted that its new Edmonton headquarters should meet LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver accreditation standards. GE’s Canadian Assembly Centre team partnered with MCL Power to design a customized medium-voltage and low-voltage solution that provided complete selectivity and reduced arc flash incident energy at the same time. This solution enhanced the distribution system's performance and safety.
“The Canadian Assembly Centre acts as the perfect conduit to quickly transform customer product requirements and feedback into real-world product solutions for the construction, commercial, institutional and industrial markets in Canada,” said Rick Attwood, facility manager of the Canadian Assembly Centre. “We’re committed to serving Canadian customers with localized expertise and greater flexibility and will continue to bring job creation and high-tech training opportunities to the next generation of Canadians.”
Designed exclusively for the Canadian electrical customer, the Assembly Centre offers key product and service benefits, including:
Faster product and service lead times.
Dedicated customer service.
Customized product and service solutions.
Solutions for all Canadian provinces and electrical markets.
