OREANDA-NEWS. June 14, 2012. OJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel (hereinafter, MMC Norilsk Nickel or the Company) announces that Polar Transportation Division (PTD) resumed its operations after spring flood, reported the press-centre of Norilsk Nickel.

On May 19, 2011 Yenissey river water level rise and sea berths flooding put a stop to winter navigation.

Seasonal navigation suspension takes place annually in May and lasts approximately one month. During this period MMC Norilsk Nickel continues to fulfill its delivery obligations to the customers.

This year 13.30 m water level rise failed to damage 14 m river berths. Currently, vessels are serviced by crane boats. After the descent of port cranes to the berths, Production and Loading Complex No. 2 will reach full-scale capacity. Suspension of PTD activities did not affect MMC Norilsk Nickel’s current operations, all tasks are accomplished in full compliance with the approved production and delivery plans. Sea berths water level is expected to go down by the end of June.

MMC Norilsk Nickel’s Polar Transportation Division services both river and sea vessels. MMC Norilsk Nickel’s products, cargos and consumer goods are shipped from Dudinka port to Norilsk Industrial Area.
