Representative Delegation from Vietnam Visited Leningrad NPP
OREANDA-NEWS. June 13, 2012. Representative delegation from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam visited Leningrad NPP. The delegation was headed by Vice Prime Minister Le Dinh Tien.
The delegation included high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Russia, the People’s Committee of Ninh Thuan Province, the Management of the first Vietnamese NPP, which is under construction, and representatives of the country’s state television.
The guests were provided with detailed information on the history and current state of Leningrad NPP, operation of the dry container storage facility for spent nuclear fuel, and the system of interaction of the plant’s units with the general public and local residents. The delegation members were also shown to the operating full-scale simulator of Units 1 and 2 of the plant and a set of training rooms where specialists of the dry storage facility are trained.
After the visit head of the Vietnamese delegation Le Dinh Tien expressed appreciation for the interesting information about the plant and the Training Center. According to Le Dinh Tien, the delegation members received valuable information and important knowledge on the work of Russian nuclear specialists in the present uneasy time. “We have got certain that after the Chernobyl tragedy and especially after the catastrophe at the Japanese NPP Fukushima-Daiichi a lot of work to ensure safe operation was done at the Russian plant,” the Vietnamese high-ranking official noted. He highlighted the open communication with technical specialists and experts of the Training Center of Leningrad NPP.
