OREANDA-NEWS. June 13, 2012. Tata Chemicals was awarded the prestigious FE-EVI Green Business Leadership Award 2011-12 in the chemicals and fertiliser sector. The award recognises companies in India who have adopted sustainability and clean tech as a core strategic measure to profitability. Dr M Veerappa Moily, Union Minster for Corporate Affairs, presented the award to Tata Chemicals at a glittering ceremony in Delhi on World Environment Day, June 5, 2012. The awards have been instituted by The Financial Express in collaboration with Emergent Ventures India.

The award ceremony also saw the the launch of the FE-EVI Green Business Survey 2011-12. Over 500 top companies of India were chosen to participate in the fourth edition of the survey, which was first instituted in the year 2008. A total of 73 companies across 11 sectors actively participated in the survey. The companies were selected on the basis of the impact their initiatives have made in areas like climate change and environment, natural resources management and sustainability governance.

Sanjay Choudhary, chief sustainability and technology officer, Tata Chemicals, said, “This award recognises our efforts to engage with stakeholders in the transition to a green economy. We at Tata Chemicals feel delighted and honoured by this recognition and it assures us that we are on the right path towards sustainable operations, products and service offerings.”

The awards, presented to companies operating across various industry sectors, recognised Mahindra & Mahindra, Shree Cement, Tata Coffee, Cognizant Technology Solutions, Essar Steel, Larsen & Toubro and Jain Irrigation Systems as winners in their respective categories. The awards jury comprised eminent policymakers, industry leaders, academicians and thought leaders.
