Cartel Deal in Market of Procurements of Insulin Disclosed in Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. June 13, 2012. The National Agency for Protection of Competition disclosed a cartel deal in the market of centralized procurements of insulin. According to Director of the Agency for Consumer Rights Protection Viorica Carare, as a result of the investigation on the insulin crisis of 2011, the Agency revealed the collusion between two participants of an insulin supply tender.
The companies were fined at an amount of 70 thou leis each. The Medicine Agency, which held tenders to supply insulin in 2010-2011, did not provide competitive conditions of the tender, Viorica Carare stated.
“Both companies offered the same prices for insulin, which did not met requirements of tenders organizations”, the Director said. The National Agency for Protection of Competition started examining the situation on state procurements of insulin in 2012, she said. According to her, procurements of insulin can be decentralized and there are legal mechanisms for it.
