OREANDA-NEWS. June 13, 2012. The main priority of Ukraine on ways to increase energy independence is to increase its own gas production, including by attracting international investors.

This is the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Yuriy Boyko said this in an interview with Bloomberg.

"The priority number one is the increasing in domestic production", - said Yuriy Boyko.

Royal Dutch Shell Plc and Chevron Corp. has already won the rights to produce hydrocarbons in Ukraine. In addition, the state offers a license for the Scythian and Foros area in the Black Sea shelf. This will allow Ukraine to reduce its dependence on imports from Russia and attract international support, says Bloomberg.
