OREANDA-NEWS. June 8, 2012. In the future, E.ON will concentrate its German regional supply business on its four largest regional suppliers: E.ON Avacon AG, E.ON Bayern AG, E.ON edis AG and E.ON Hanse AG. These companies account for about three quarters of the present regional supply business. Together they form an efficient combination which will play an active part in implementing the energy turnaround in Germany's regions, especially through the accelerated expansion of grids and distributed power generation.

Thomas Konig, responsible for E.ON’s grid business in Germany, said: "The energy turnaround is both a challenge and an opportunity for our regional supply business in Germany. We intend to contribute actively to its implementation. To do so, we have to concentrate our financial resources more strongly and seek even closer collaboration with our partners at local level."

In this context, E.ON is also open to strengthening the role of its municipal co-shareholders, for example by increasing their stakes in the existing business or by agreeing on local participation models for the development of new activities.

In connection with the envisaged concentration on four regional suppliers, E.ON will start talks with the respective municipal shareholders of E.ON Mitte and E.ON Thuringer Energie on reorganising the shareholdings. Such talks are already underway at E.ON Westfalen Weser.
