Fujitsu to Participate in "RIO 20" United Nations Conference
OREANDA-NEWS. June 08, 2012. Fujitsu today announced that it will participate in the "RIO+20" United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from June 20 - 22. Fujitsu will be participating in the Japan Pavilion and a Corporate Sustainability Forum, which will take place in tandem with the conference.
In introducing its theme pertaining to the role of ICT in a sustainable society, Fujitsu will highlight ICT's major contributions—beginning with "K computer"(1), the world's fastest supercomputer—to addressing a wide variety of complex challenges.
About Rio+20
"RIO+20" is the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, which will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in June 2012. The United Nations is hosting the conference with the aim of providing a forum for leaders to discuss the future direction of sustainable development, as well as to secure renewed political commitments for sustainability. This year's themes are the "Green economy in the context of sustainable development and poverty eradication," and "The Institutional framework for sustainable development."
