OREANDA-NEWS. June 7, 2012. Tata Elxsi, India’s leading design company and part of the USD 83.3 billion Tata group, today announced the launch of ‘Ignite 2012‘design contest – one that endeavours to provide a platform for future designers to develop ideas that will reshape the future. The contest is a part of ‘connect D’ — an annual event organised by Tata Elxsi to commemorate World Industrial Design Day.

The theme of the contest this year is ‘Designing for Emerging Markets’. It intends to address how design can provide innovative solutions to address the inherent challenges and opportunities that exist amongst developing economies of the world.

Design students pursuing their full-time graduate / PG courses can participate in the contest. Students can submit their entries in any of the two design disciplines of product design and visual design across the following categories — Healthcare, Interactive Devices and Bottom of the Pyramid.

Winners (one from product design and one from visual design) will be awarded a cash prize of Rs25,000 each along with a certificate from Tata Elxsi during the next ‘connect D’ event which will be held on June 29, 2012. The winners will also get a chance to pursue an internship at Tata Elxsi as part of their course curriculum.

Aspiring design students in India can submit their entries by June 20, 2012.
