OREANDA-NEWS. June 5, 2012. ISS-Reshetnev specialists have finished work on the ground control center intended for the TELKOM-3 spacecraft. The satellite was built under the contract awarded by the Indonesian satellite operator PT Telekomunikasi Tbk.

Academician M.F. Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems not only manufactures spacecraft, but also establishes ground control centers in customers’ territory. A center of this kind represents a facility equipped with tracking, telemetry and command (TT&C) and antenna systems, as well as a mission control center.

As of today the ground control center for TELKOM-3 is ready for service. ISS-Reshetnev has conducted all necessary tests which verified software’s and receive/transmit instruments’ proper operation. For this purpose the company provided a software simulator – satellite’s computer model. Using this simulator ISS-Reshetnev experts obtained telemetry data and tested satellite control commands. While carrying out tests in the Indonesian control center they also established communication with TELKOM-3 being inserted into a test rig at ISS-Reshetnev facilities. The craft successfully performed operations commanded from the mission control center.

The facility will be commissioned when TELKOM-3 is launched and has completed in-orbit tests. Until that moment the spacecraft will be controlled by ISS-Reshetnev team from the mission control center located in Indonesia.

Information Satellite Systems will continue providing technical support to the foreign customer through spacecraft’s mission in orbit.
