Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan to Coordinate Transport Logistics
OREANDA-NEWS. June 05, 2012. Russian Railways, Joint Stock Company National Company "Kazakhstan Temir Joly" and Belarusian Railways have signed an agreement to develop a transport and logistics system in the Common Economic Space.
The agreement was signed by Vladimir Yakunin, President of Russian Railways, Askar Mamin, President of Kazakhstan Temir Joly (Kazakhstan Railways), and Anatoly Sivak, head of Belarusian Railways, during the VII International Business Forum 1520 Strategic Partnership in Sochi on 31 May 2012.
Under the agreement, the parties concurred in the need for joint efforts and greater cooperation in developing a transport and logistics system across Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus which would focus on providing quality and competitive services within the Common Economic Space and, in the future, in the 1520 broad gauge space. The main goals in developing such a transport and logistics system are to achieve stable pricing by agreeing to a joint policy in establishing straight-through tariffs and to develop uniform standards in services.
To implement these goals, it is planned to establish an International Transport and Logistics Association, which will develop a common legal framework on transport for the Common Economic Space and improve the system of technical regulation.
The parties also agreed to undertake joint efforts to form a combined transport and logistics company on a parity basis.
