OREANDA-NEWS. June 5, 2012. Tata Motors’ total sales (including exports) of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles in May 2012 were 64,347 vehicles, higher by 4 percent, over May 2011. The company’s domestic sales of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles for May 2012 were 60,128 vehicles, higher by 6 percent, over 56,571 vehicles, sold in May last year.

Cumulative sales (including exports) for the company for the fiscal are 124,433 vehicles, lower by 2 percent, over 126,353 vehicles, sold last year.

Commercial vehicles

The company’s sales of commercial vehicles in May 2012 in the domestic market were 39,625 vehicles, a 7 percent growth, compared to 37,170 vehicles, sold in May last year. LCV sales were 27,174 vehicles, a growth of 26 percent, compared to 21,638 vehicles sold in May, last year. M&HCV sales stood at 12,451 vehicles, lower by 20 percent, compared to 15,532 vehicles sold in May, last year.

Cumulative sales of commercial vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal are 74,272 vehicles, a growth of 1 percent over last year. Cumulative LCV sales are 51,992 vehicles, a growth of 17 percent over last year, while M&HCV sales stood at 22,280 vehicles, lower by 24 percent, over last year.

Passenger vehicles

Sales of passenger vehicles for May 2012 are at 20,503 vehicles, a growth of 6 percent over 19,401 vehicles, sold in May last year. Sales of the Tata Nano were 8,507 vehicles, higher by 31 percent, compared to 6,515 vehicles, sold in May, last year. The Indica range sales were 5,467 vehicles, lower by 1 percent, over 5,497 vehicles, sold in May, last year. The Indigo range recorded sales of 3,397 vehicles, lower by 20 percent, over 4,268 vehicles, sold in May, last year. The Sumo / Safari / Aria / Venture range are flat at 3,132 vehicles, in this month.

Cumulative sales of passenger vehicles were 43,161 vehicles, higher by 1 percent, compared to 42,788 vehicles, till May last year. Cumulative sales of the Nano are flat at 16,535 vehicles. Cumulative sales of the Indica range are 12,380 vehicles, higher by 27 percent. Cumulative sales of the Indigo family are 7,066 vehicles, lower by 26 percent. Cumulative sales of the Sumo / Safari / Aria / Venture range are 7,180 vehicles, higher by 3 percent.

Jaguar Land Rover sales in India continued their upward trend.

Exports

The company's sales from exports at 4,219 vehicles in May 2012 are lower by 24 percent compared to 5,534 vehicles in May last year. The cumulative sales from exports for the fiscal at 7,000 vehicles, are lower by 29 percent over 9,792 vehicles, in the same period last year.
