Russia Creates Far East Development Ministry
OREANDA-NEWS. June 01, 2012. Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has signed the Decree (№ 534, May 31, 2012) "The Issues of the Ministry of the Russian Federation on the Development of the Far East," the press service of Russian Presidential Envoy to the Far East Federal District said.
Decree stipulates that the Moscow and Khabarovsk-headquartered Ministry of Development of the Far East is a federal body of executive authority in the territory of the Far East Federal District, with the following functions:
- Coordination of the implementation of government programs and federal programs, including long-term ones, provided by the list of approved by the Government of the Russian Federation;
- Management of the federal property (excluding forest and protected areas of federal significance, as well as the property of open joint stock companies, of the federal government enterprises included in the list of strategic enterprises and strategic joint-stock companies approved by the Russian President) in the manner and within the limits established by the acts of the President and the Russian Government;
- Control of executing by the public authorities of the regions of the Russian Federation, of the powers transferred to them in accordance with the law.
The document authorizes the Ministry of Development of the Far East to appoint five deputy ministers and establish up to seven departments in the main areas of activity.
