OREANDA-NEWS. May 28, 2012. Mr Roman Serdyukov has been appointed the Electricity Generation Director of DTEK. He will be responsible for coordinating the energy generation assets’ operations, managing the retrofit, upgrading and efficiency improvement processes at DTEK thermal generation companies.

Till 14 May, 2012, Mr Serdyukov held the position of the General Director of DTEK Dniproenergo, the largest electricity and heat generating company of Ukraine.

“It is both a great honor and responsibility for me to be a leader of the highly professional team of DTEK’s energy business,” Roman Serdyukov says. “Currently, the total installed capacity of DTEK’s power units is 18.2 GW, and they produce one third of electricity in the country. We are facing far-reaching tasks of efficiency improvement and full-fledged technical re-equipment of our generating companies. The scale of the planned retrofit and capital construction will surpass any projects Ukraine has seen over the last fifty years. I believe we have all resources required to do this: extensive experience, best business management practices, financial strength and talent pool.”

“DTEK’s rapid growth makes the company a notable player in the European energy market. DTEK’s generation business has ambitious goals: to compete with European energy companies on equal footing and ensure reliability of the grid under the conditions of its growing load. To be able to do it, we have to drastically change our approaches to TPPs’ equipping and efficiency, and their environmental safety. We will continue upgrading the existing power units and preparing the new builds. In the next three years investments in upgrading of our generating companies will amount to about USD 2 billion per year, and by 2030 capital investments in the business might reach USD 20 billion. Only an efficient team led by an experienced and ambitious leader can cope with such challenges. Mr Serdyukov’s experience and performance prove that he is up to the job” Maxim Timchenko, DTEK’s CEO says.
