Recently, high grade wire-Products Joint Research Centre, which is set up by  tube pipe and bar business unit, Baosteel Research Institute and Baosteel Metal three units -  is officially inaugurated. Mr, Li Haiping, Executive Deputy Director of Baosteel Group Planning Committee, Mr. Jiang Licheng, deputy general manager of Baosteel as well as general manager of tube pipe and bar business unit, and Mr. Jia Yanlin, chairman of Baosteel Metal attended the opening ceremony.

As the extension of wire rod processing, each business unit for wire products of Baosteel Metal, tube pipe and bar business unit, and Baosteel Research Institute has carried out a series of close and fruitful joint research and development and topic tackling, to continue accumulation of experience in technology research and development as well as to achieve breakthrough continuously at collaboration operation aspect. Presently, with the help of newly established Joint Research Centre, the three units will integrate their respective resource advantages and carry out concentrated tackling on products and technologies with common attention, resolve key technical problems on the production and usage of new wire products, which is also a beneficial attempt for the upstream and downstream collaboration operation within the Group. The establishment of the research center will further develop and strengthen Baosteel system advantages from wire rod raw materials to steel wire rod to products, by accelerating the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, to promote the development of world-class wire and related products base.

In the future, Baosteel high-grade wire rod - Products Joint Research Centre, starting from the wire industry chain, will make research and development of new products, new processes, new technologies of the whole process from wire to products, to promote the achievements transformation and production lines application. joint research of 10 projects in four major categories will be carried out from three dimensions including Product improvement, new product development and key products breakthrough within the field. Joint R & D will be closely around the wire product varieties promoted by Baosteel Metal under focusing on industrialization, including cutting steel wire, steel cord, spring steel, bridge steel wire, cold heading wire product, emphasizing to develop consistent manufacturing technology and product processing technology research.
