OREANDA-NEWS. May 24, 2012. A Volga-Dnepr Airlines’ AN-124-100 freighter chartered by Chapman Freeborn has carried a 22-ton multi-stage press coil to the Congo to help progress the modernisation of the country’s power generation.
The shipment was transported from Chalons in France to Lumumbashi with the help of Volga-Dnepr’s technical engineers, who designed a special platform to load the outsize cargo. The aircraft’s 30-ton capacity crane was also used to lift the press coil safely into the cargo hold. The unit will be installed in one of Congo’s Copper producing mines power stations as part of the upgrading of its energy generation infrastructure.
Representatives of Chapman Freeborn Airchartering in Africa expressed their gratitude to Volga-Dnepr’s experts for the safe and timely transportation. “The co-ordination between Volga-Dnepr Airlines’ sales, customer services and operations teams was smooth and at all departments worked well with CF Africa to overcome any issues in good time.
