TNK-BP Discussed Land Remediation Program with Independent Ecologists
OREANDA-NEWS. May 23, 2012. TNK-BP discussed remediation of lands in the company’s fields with independent environmental protection organizations. The round table was participated by representatives of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), Greenpeace, Russian Union for Conservation of Birds, environmental protection organization Transparent World, and Public Environmental Supervision Organization of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area (Yugra), and the management and experts of the company.
At the round table meeting, TNK-BP specialists presented their comprehensive program for remediation of historical heritage lands and informed ecologists on implementation of the pipeline integrity and modernization program. Participants of the round table were also told about integration of a new telecommunication system for minimization of pipeline damage detection time and a new winter remediation technology for efficient cleanup of spills on remote territories with no damage to the environment. Since its inception, the company invested USD 2.1 billion into various environmental protection programs. Apart from that, TNK-BP established a special fund of USD 500 million for solution of inherited ecological problems and already remediated
