Turkmenistan Uses Water-Saving Technology
OREANDA-NEWS. May 18, 2012. First in Lebap province water sprinklers have been introduced into fields of Yilgynagyz virgin lands. Yilgynagyz canal provides water for irrigation. Nearby the compact water reservoir was constructed. Small pumping station was built on its bank. Hence, through polyethylene pipelines, water rises under pressure up to three-meter height and then to water sprinklers through hydrants.
From November of the last year, vegetative watering has been carried out in the two 25-hectare fields with the use of economical method. Capacity of a self-propelled installation makes it possible to do watering of one hectare per hour. With that, a large saving of particularly valuable moisture in these lands is achieved and redundant filtration into soil is avoided. It is possible to judge about efficiency of new method for Lebap by the state of sown areas, which promise abundant harvest.
These virgin lands on the territory of Dovletli etrap have been allotted on a long-term lease basis to “Lebap” Peasants’ Association of Serdarabat etrap. According to the signed contact, the association, in its turn, transferred them to “Yunus-dayhan” Peasants’ Association. Already for six years, this entrepreneurial structure has been cultivating here winter wheat and stably yields at least 30 centners of white wheat which is considerably exceeds the contractual obligations. In this virgin land, domestic “Bitaraplyk” variety of wheat is grown.
As the head of the Peasants’ Association Yunus Abdyllayev says, two water sprinklers have been purchased for lax bank credit. The time has proved the efficiency of application of the resource-saving technology. In the next two years, the farm plans to purchase another four water sprinklers to fully apply overhead irrigation at a 150-hectare grain field. The entrepreneurs also intend to develop the waste hills, which lie fallow, laying out fruit gardens on a ten-hectare area on the basis of drip irrigation.
By the way, “Yunus-dayhan” Peasants’ Association was also the first to create a poultry farm on commercial basis in Lebap last year after purchasing on the basis of lax bank credit essential equipment and 5 thousand Dutch laying hens. Incidentally, it is planned to cultivate millet on Yilgynagyz virgin area as intermediate crop after harvesting the winter wheat for replenishment of ration of such a large quantity of hens.
