OREANDA-NEWS. May 18, 2012. TNK-BP announces that CJSC Rospan International (a subsidiary of TNK-BP) jointly with independent technical supervision organizations has begun devising a plan of action to improve quality control and safety standards during construction of an inter-field pipeline in Yamal, reported the press-centre of TNK-BP.

Construction of the pipeline will be one of the Company’s biggest infrastructure projects: 382 km in length, it will connect TNK-BP’s Suzunskoe, Tagulskoe, Russko-Rechenskoe and Russkoe fields to transport and deliver crude oil to the Transneft pipeline system in the vicinity of the Zapolyarnoe field.

Rospan will ensure effective quality control of construction work and welding joints, thereby greatly reducing the likelihood of incidents and minimizing the environmental risks associated with the operation of the pipeline. Managers of contractor organizations will take part in monthly meetings to review work quality and enforce compliance with TNK-BP’s safety standards.

The General Director of OJSC Rospan International, Rustem Bakirov, stresses: “We are demanding high standards from contractors who want to work on the project. The quality of their work will be checked by high-tech mobile laboratories using various types of equipment (thermal imaging, ultra-sound, radiographic and magnetic particle) for continuous inspection of structures. This will ensure robust quality control of welding joints in the pipelines and other welded structures for compliance with the best international safety and environmental standards.”
