Roman Petrov was born in Kyiv in 1972. In 1995, he graduated from the National Technical University of Ukraine "Kyiv Polytechnic School" as Engineer Physicist and Heat Power Specialist. In 1998, got second higher education by successfully defending his Master's graduation project majoring in Finance and Credit at Kyiv National University of Economics.

Roman Petrov's experience in insurance counts over 12 years. He started his career in this industry with AIG Ukraine Insurance Company. From October 2000 to August 2009 he raised from underwriter to Director of Individual Sales working for various Ukrainian insurance companies. From August 2009 to April 2012 Roman worked as an advisor in developing and building sales for companies of different industries.
