Wuhan Steel Egang has promised to dismantle a 380-cubic meter blast furnace (410,000 tons of iron-melting capacity) and two 35 t converters (one million tons of steel capacity in total) by the end of this year, and plans to shut down another 544-cubic meter blast furnace in 2013.

Hubei Xinyegang and Rongfeng Steel also decided to eliminate one million tons and 678,000 tons of steel capacity, respectively, by the end of 2012.
