OREANDA-NEWS. May 15, 2012. Power Machines OJSC and Mixed Technical Commission (intergovernmental organization, Argentina and Uruguay) signed a contract to inspect hydropower unit #9 of the binational Salto Grande HPP.

Under the terms of the contract, Power Machines are to perform works on the hydro generator diagnostics including thermal and ventilation tests and assess the hydro turbine technical and functional condition. The works are scheduled for completion by Q3 2012.

Basing on the results of these diagnostics works, the Company's specialists are going to assess the condition of the main electro-mechanical equipment and evaluate the need for further retrofit of the plant's hydropower units.

14 hydropower units of Salto Grande HPP, which were put into operation in 1978 ‑ 1982 and equipped with hydro generators manufactured by the Elektrosila plant belonging to the Power Machines group, proved their high reliability and displayed good performance during their operation.
