OREANDA-NEWS. May 15, 2012. Speaking at the energy forum in Chisinau, head of the Department of strategies and policies of regulation of ANRE Anatolie Saracuta depicted a situation in the energy sector and its outlooks. According to him, the market is regulated by clear and predictable rules.

The license for activity is issued for 25 years and can be revoked or suspended only in court. Tariffs are established according to the five-year-long methodology which is adequate to market conditions. As he noted, the energy branch of Moldova is rather profitable: 12,78% in gas supply and 14,88% in electricity supply. To compare, in Romania profitability s nearly 5 p.p. lower and made 10%.

The current tariffs cover expenses of operators, all investors have equal opportunities, the market is transparent and the network access is non-discriminating. In 2011, the market operators invested USD 7 mln. in power transmission lines, over USD 30 mln.- in power distribution and \\$27 mln. in gas supply systems.

In the nearest future the state is going to focus on ensuring functioning of the efficient, independent and transparent Agency for regulation in energy; providing equal conditions to all participants of the market; encouraging investments in energy generation and guaranteeing interconnection of networks in line with EU requirements.

The law of renewable energy sources will be changed shortly and feed-in tariffs will be set up; cross backing will be liquidated, distributors and suppliers of power and gas will be legally differentiated till 2015 and the market will be completely liberalized by 2015.
