The meeting with representatives of SC Olimpstroy, the Emergencies Ministry of Sochi, the Russian Environment Supervision Committee, the Russian Committee for Water Resources, the Russian Hydrometeorological Committee, the Russian Subsoil Committee, Russian Railways and other agencies was held in the Olympic Park.

The main subjects of the meeting were preservation of biodiversity, creation of the comprehensive environmental monitoring system, protection of water facilities, teamwork with UNEP and environmental agencies. "We need the international experts, experience in the most difficult issues, and their independent assessment at different work stages is very important to us", noted Yury Trutnev.

He emphasized the importance of environmental innovations in construction, which are to become popular in other Russian cities and towns. “The ‘green’ standards exist in two forms in this country: the first one is the adopted European BREEAM system, and 10 facilities in Sochi will be certified under it”, the minister said. “In addition, we introduce our assessment system. There are additional environmental requirements to the Olympic construction processes”.
