OREANDA-NEWS. May 12, 2012. The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources has created an automated system, using possibilities of remote sensing of the earth and modern methods of processing as well as data analysis, including areas within the nature reserve fund. Space monitoring system enables detecting changes that occur in the environment as a result of anthropogenic and natural development. The presentation of remote monitoring of the earth with the participation of the Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has been taken place. This was announced by Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Eduard Stavytskyi during a briefing at the Government House on Thursday.

"The first task has been set by Prime Minister refers to forest resources. That is a violation by some entities of cutting areas of forests. The system of space monitoring enables to promptly respond regarding these issues and decide over current legislation or to exact a fine or pass these materials for use in criminal cases to the prosecuting authorities. "The second order by PM on efficient use system of settling dumps problems. The system of space monitoring also enables to monitor entities in recreation areas (such as buildings or an alluvium of land in water bodies). This year the Ministry plans to set up a control from space over water reservoirs, extraction of minerals, erosion processes. At the same time, data space monitoring to be publicly available on the Internet.

If the Ministry of Ecology experience proves successful, it will add to one's armoury by other ministries too, including MOE (control floods and fires), Ministry of Agrarian Policy (the state of crops).

Note: Monitoring system is being used in developed countries. World leaders of this technology today are Germany, USA and France.

System in Ukraine was commissioned 04/28/2012, cost of the works and equipment - 49.38 million UAH. Tender for supply of equipment and software has won the Austrian company AustroPlanInzhenirinh.
