OREANDA-NEWS. May 10, 2012. The Government of the Republic of Belarus on Monday approves a decree that disaffirm the restriction for the Ukrainian brewers’ products access into the country’s market. This was informed by Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko during a meeting with staff of the Obolon JSC.

"I look forward to rapid restoration of Ukrainian beer supplies in foreign markets. For us, the fundamental was to solve this problem before the summer season, because beer - a seasonal product. That is why we have made every effort so that to Ukrainian brewers should be granted access to the market of Belarus as early as May," said Petro Poroshenko.

News about the lifting of restrictions, President of the Obolon JSC Oleksandr Slobodian called a pleasant surprise for the beer producers.

"It is very important not only for our corporation, but also for Ukraine's economy as a whole. Till setting limits, our direct supplies into the Belarus’ market amounted to 7.2%, and last year this figure was 1.7%," said Oleksandr Slobodian. He believes that over time, Ukrainian brewers restore lost positions in a foreign market.
