OREANDA-NEWS. May 10, 2012. OJSC IC Allianz (ROSNO trademark) has provided insurance protection for the general property in 137 Moscow apartment blocks in the Eastern Administrative Area of the city of Moscow. The aggregate insurance amount is 3,660,728,982.42 roubles, reported the press-centre of IC Allianz.

The insurance program covering the municipal housing fund is implemented by the Moscow Government together with the insurers selected via tenders. Thanks to the municipal budget’s participation in the program, the general property located in the apartment blocks (structural elements, plumbing systems, elevators and elevator equipment) is insured at the rates most suitable for insurants. At the same time, damage is compensated on the basis of an estimated cost of repair works.

Today, according to the data collected by the Municipal Housing Insurance Centre, the residents of 837 apartment blocks, having realized that they are true owners of the entire building and not only their apartment, treated the general property with due responsibility and insured it against most popular risks. Indeed, given the sheer size of the Moscow megalopolis, consisting of over 35 thousand apartment blocks, this figure looks bleak, but the positive trend is evident, and soon we will surely be able to speak of thousands of insured apartment blocks. Last year, 35 insured accidents occurred, with insurance compensations exceeding 3.6 mln roubles (the largest one was for a fire where compensation amounted to about 600 thousand roubles).

Comments Mr. Vladimir Lomakin, head of the Municipal Housing Insurance Department of the Insurance Programs Centre of OJSC IC Allianz: "Our company has been insuring general property in apartment blocks under the municipal program since 2006, and year after year we see the Muscovites’s insurance culture improving, and, consequently, the number of concluded general property insurance contracts is also on the rise. We hope that our insurants will appreciate the joint decision by the Municipal Housing Insurance Centre and the insurers about 30% rate decrease as compared to the previous year, and we expect a notable growth in the quantity of insurance contracts by the year end".
