Russian Railways Carries 83,5 mn Passengers in April
OREANDA-NEWS. May 10, 2012. According to the latest figures, Russian Railways transported 83.5 million passengers in April 2012 on its own infrastructure, a 5.6% increase over April 2011. 75.3 million passengers (+5.9%) travelled on suburban commuter routes, and 8.1 million (+2.6%) on long-distance services, reported the press-centre of Russian Railways.
Passenger turnover in April 2012 amounted to 9.5 billion passenger-kilometres, up 4% on April 2011.
During January-April 2012, Russian Railways carried 308 million passengers, an increase of 8.7% over the same period in 2011. Long-distance passenger numbers rose by 2.5% to 32 million, while suburban commuters were up 9.4% to 276 million.
Since the beginning of 2012, passenger turnover on the Russian Railways’ network has risen to 36.9 billion passenger-kilometres, an increase of 4.8% compared to last year.
