Lower Rung of Railway Employees Felicitated for Unique Contribution
OREANDA-NEWS. May 4, 2012. Team effort is the hallmark of Indian Railways functioning says Chairperson RWWCO
In a significant move to encourage and incentivise the lower rung of employees of Indian Railways, special felicitation programmes are being organised in all the Railway Divisions to recognize the services and contribution of employees like Gangmen, Trolleymen, Gatemen, OHE Khalasis, single maintenance cadres etc. These employees along with their colleagues work day and night very hard in the field under difficult conditions to ensure safety of trains and thereby smooth running of the whole system.
In Delhi, the main felicitation function was held at State Entry Road where Smt. Poonam Mittal, Chairperson of Railway Women’s Welfare Central Organisation (RWWCO) was the Chief Guest. She presented souvenirs. In her speech, she said that these employees play a crucial role in ensuring safe and smooth railway operations and are an important part of the vast Railway system. She emphasised that the team effort is the hallmark of Indian Railway’s functioning and called upon everybody to continue to give their best for Indian Railways which is hailed as the lifeline of the nation.
200 Railwaymen with at least 25 years of service and with unblemlished service record were chosen for felicitation in Delhi area.
This unique initiative of felicitating lower rung of Railway employees was taken by RWWCO. Railway Women’s Welfare Central Organisation is the apex body of the chain of women’s welfare organisations spread over all Indian Railways engaged in the task of welfare of Railwaymen and their families through various need-based socio/welfare activities. While the primary concern of the organisation is the welfare of Railway employees and their families, it has always risen to the call of the society and the nation – be it environmental awareness, family welfare drives, disturbances on the borders or the natural calamities. It is one of the fore-runner voluntary organisations in the country today.
