PS-90A Aircraft Engines Operated more than 3 Million Flight Hours
OREANDA-NEWS. May 4, 2012. In April, 2012 the total "on-wing" operation time of the fleet of the main aircraft engine of Russian civil aviation PS-90A, being produced by OJSC "Perm Engine Company" has exceeded 3 million flight hours.
This high performance factor became a kind of gift to the 20th anniversary of certification of PS-90A engine in 1992. At the moment this aircraft is being operated by 82 long-haul aircrafts in 11 national and 5 foreign airlines. During all this time the engine has been improved in construction, its production technologies have also been continuously enhanced, and all this allowed increasing its reliability and service life. Since the commissioning the total operation time of the leader PS-90A engine has exceeded 38 thousand hours.
In the beginning of April 2012 a modified version of PS-90A engine - PS-90A-76 engine - has also demonstrated significant achievements. It has been the first time, when the engine of this modification has operated more than 9 thousand flight repair-free hours on wing of Il-76TD-90 aircraft, belonging to "Silk Way Airlines" company. Now the leader engine continues to run, and for the 12th of April its total operation time has been already 9017 hours. PS-90A-76 engine was certified in 2003 and has been produced serially by "Perm Engine Company" since 2004. It was determined as the basic engine for a new Russian model of military and civil aircraft - Il-476, the first flight of which is planned for June, 2012.

- The PS-90A engine is the main product of our company, its gas generator is used as the base for some modifications of both, aircraft engines and gas turbine plants, operated by the enterprises of oil and gas industry and energy production companies. We set a high value on extension of its production and improvement of our production technologies. Within 2012-2020 our top-priority task is the fulfillment of the state contract of production of more than 500 PS-90A-76 engines, ordered by the United Engine Building Corporation for a perspective Il-476 aircraft. This will allow us to load our production capacities fully and provide the necessary rate of development and technical re-armament of "Perm Engine Company" in the period of preparation for mastering of batch production of the 5th generation PD-14 engine.
