Next Silkworm Breeding Season Opened in Samarkand
OREANDA-NEWS. May 04, 2012. This year, silkworm breeders of Samarkand region are feeding 52,168 boxes of silkworm eggs vivified by seed-growing and industrial enterprises of the country.
Serious preparations for this year’s season have been carried out in the region in accordance with the intended activities.
More than 8 million mulberry trees and 7600 hectares of plantations were prepared for the season. However, over 1 million 600 thousand mulberry saplings planted in the region.
“Before beginning the season, we have conducted training seminars in all areas of the region with the participation of specialists of the field,” said the chairman of the territorial association “Pilla” Alisher Qanoatov. “During the seminars, the necessary recommendations on the climatic conditions of the territory and the order of silkworm feeding were given to the breeders. The enterprises of the region on harvesting of cocoons and some 5,300 farms, farmers as well as the families involved in fattening of silkworms have signed mutual contracts. On the basis of these agreements, the silkworm breeders got payments, necessary equipments and facilities.”
