OREANDA-NEWS. May 04, 2012. OJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel (hereinafter – MMC Norilsk Nickel or the Company) announces the result of the workshop on organizing corporate IT-processes. MMC Norilsk Nickel is a dynamically developing company, which pays close attention to development and automation of information technologies utilized by its structural units, reported the press-centre of Norilsk Nickel.

Works on implementing new IT and automatic process control systems technologies are carried out continuously and such events provide efficient instruments relevant to this scope of works. The workshop provided an appropriate platform for the dialogue among employees of the Company and its subsidiaries. The event also provided a universal platform for the Company’s employees to communicate with the leading hardware and software manufacturers.

The workshop was held in Moscow region. It was attended by over 110 employees of the Company and its subsidiaries. Participants discussed such issues as: changes in software licensing legislation, IT equipment solutions standardization in modern companies and development of IT operations management systems at MMC Norilsk Nickel’s production facilities. Speeches were given by the employees of the Company’s Head Office, Polar Division, Gipronickel Institute and other Company’s subsidiaries.   

Representatives of 27 well-known IT companies, including Cisco, HP, IBM, Oracle, Schneider Electric, Xerox and other, participated in the workshop.  The partner and co-organizer for the event was Ai-teko system integrator. Speakers talked about the new developments concerning information storage and protection, corporate systems integration and new tendencies in information and communication companies. Issues concerning industrial automation were discussed during automatic process control systems part of the event.

According to Igor Ezhov, head of Operations Division of MMC Norilsk Nickel’s IT department: “the Company is hosting this workshop for the third year in a row. The number of participants is growing every year because we can see that this format is extremely effective. We gathered representatives of all major market participants and over the course of these 4 days, they introduce our employees to their new developments and we have a chance to ask them the questions that concern us, establishing a business-dialogue, which will be further broadened after the event. The workshop has tangible value to us. It is especially helpful for the employees of our Polar Division, because due to geographic reasons it may otherwise be difficult for them to participate in IT shows and conferences, representative of IT companies don’t visit Norilsk Industrial Region often either. Here we have a chance to talk to almost all of the major IT market participants at the same time”.
