OREANDA-NEWS. May 04, 2012. At the 11th Annual ICN Conference in Rio-de-Janeiro a delegation of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia), led by Stats-Secretary, Deputy Head of FAS Andrey Tsarikovsky, had negotiations with representatives of Directorate General on Competition of the European Commission, Carles Esteva Mossa, Mike Van Der Wee, and Sam Peters, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

The parties discussed the prospects of developing cooperation in the field of advancing competition on the markets of pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, air transportation and car sales and after-sales services.

For the purposes of drafting a New Russia – EC Framework Agreement, the parties discussed specifics of state aid in Russia and EC. Andrey Tsarikovsky proposed to organize a broad discussion of the issues of state aid in the form of a Round Table at Competition Day in Russia. Representatives of the European Commission took a very positive attitude to this proposal.

In their turn representatives of the European Commission showed interest in organizing trainings of experts of FAS Russia at the European Commission and EC experts at FAS Russia on the most pressing issues of competition policy and enforcement. Andrey Tsarikovsky expressed readiness to further discuss the proposal in detail.

Overall, the positions of the parties put forward at the meeting indicate very trustworthy and strong relations between FAS and Directorate General on Competition of the European Commission.
