The Northwestern Federal District ranks among the top three Russian regions based on its economic development, scale and variety of industrial production. The district accounts for over 13% of the total output of the country’s secondary sector and over 11% of the energy sector.

The Social and Economic Development Strategy for the Northwestern Federal District, which was approved by the government, includes creating favorable conditions for the upgrade of the military and defense complex, shipbuilding, automobile industries, as well as mechanical and electrical engineering industries. We are primarily interested in such IT-intensive projects as comprehensive reconstruction of airports, revamping of the White Sea — Baltic Canal and the Volga-Baltic Waterway, major expansion of railway crossing capacity, development of existing and construction of new major industrial and oil and gas facilities, as well as phasing in energy conservation technologies," CEO of Helios IT Azer Badalov said.
