OREANDA-NEWS. May 2, 2012. Tallinna Vesi's operational performance report for the 1st quarter of 2012 indicates the high quality of drinking water in Estonia's capital as well as the efficiency of the biofilter in reducing the pollution of the Baltic Sea.

Tallinna Vesi reported high levels of operational and quality indicators in the first quarter of 2012. The performance report underlines the high quality of Tallinn's drinking water and the advancements in wastewater treatment.

In year-over-year comparison, the volume of pollution discharged to the Baltic Sea was reduced significantly thanks to the biofilter treatment stage at the Paljassaare Wastewater Treatment Plant. Compared to the 1st quarter of 2011, the biofilter has helped to reduce the volumes by 51.2%.

All of the samples taken from the taps of Tallinna Vesi's customers complied with the EU drinking water requirements. The sampling process follows the drinking water quality sampling programme approved by the Health Board, specifically determining sampling sites, sampling frequency and parameters to be analysed.

Compared to the 1st quarter of 2011, the number of written contacts slightly increased. The total number of written contacts was 2281. Over 99% of written customer contacts received responses within at least 2 workdays. The Company continuously undertakes to achieve higher levels of services than stipulated in the Services Agreement signed with the City of Tallinn.
