OREANDA-NEWS. April 27, 2012. In the area of State Specialized Enterprise "The Chornobyl NPP", the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych has symbolically launched the technological cycle construction of the "New Shelter" confinement over the fourth power unit of Chornobyl NPP.

The event was attended by the Minister of Emergencies of Ukraine Viktor Baloga, the Minister for Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine Anatoliy Blyzhniyk, representatives of the consortium NOVARKA, ambassadors of donor countries of the Chernobyl Fund "Shelter" and representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

According to the signed contract, until October 2015 for the construction of the NSC it is scheduled to spend about EUR 990 million, including the reserve amounts.

The main contributors of the Chornobyl Fund "Shelter", except Ukraine, are the European Commission, USA, UK, Germany, Russia, France, Japan, Italy and Canada, the EBRD.
