Vyborg Shipyard Started Erection of Naval Aviation Training Facility
OREANDA-NEWS. April 26, 2012. In April 2012 Vyborg Shipyard has proceeded to the next stage of construction of a part of a naval aviation training facility similar to the NITKA training range.
Besides, in March 2012 Vyborg Shipyard concluded a contract with Proletarsky Shipyard JSC on fabrication of one more part of the training facility. According to the contract Vyborg Shipyard will perform works on fabrication, transportation and erection of steel structures of air finishers’ block. At the present time procurement of steel, paint etc. and production preparation is taking place. Start of steel cutting is planned for May 2012.
The NITKA is a special aircraft carrier landing trainer and test site with arresting gear and a ski-jump ramp that is a full-size replica of a carrier deck. Its main purpose is training of take-off/ landing techniques by carrier pilots.
