DBK Completes 2nd Phase on Extension of Seaport Aktau
OREANDA-NEWS. April 26, 2012. The "breakwater" waterside structure has been put into operation to protect the port water area against the wind, reported the press-centre of KASE.
The "breakwater" waterside structure with the length over 500 meters has been built under the second phase on extension of International seaport Aktau in the north (the Project). The investment project with the total cost of KZT41.7 bn is being implemented with the support of Development Bank of Kazakhstan (DBK or the Bank). The Bank funded first two phases of the Project, during which in 2009-2011 have been constructed safety waterside structures: "mole" and "breakwater".
Today DBK considers the possibility to issue a loan for implementation of the Project third phase. This phase foresees dredging in the port water area and approach canals. The fourth phase foresees creation of three dry-cargo ships moorage.
As a result of the Project implementation Kazakhstan sea gate will be able to serve over 3 mln dry-cargo. The Aktau port staff will be increased by 364 people. Also, during the construction 640 work places have been created.
The port Актау has been constructed in 1963 to transport products of uranium industry and oil deposits of Mangyshlak Region. The port is located on the east side of Caspian Sea and is the only sea port of Kazakhstan for international transportation of dry-cargo, raw oil and oil petrochemical. The port has transportation of several types such as railway, automobile, water transport and pipeline.
Development Bank of Kazakhstan has been established in 2001. Main activities include improvement of efficiency of the government investments, development of production, facilitation of encouragement of external and internal investments to the country economy.
