As it was pointed out at the occasion, the Uzbek-German relations have been advancing dynamically in all spheres of cooperation, notably in public property management and privatization issues. The bilateral agreements include those covering investment, financial, technological cooperation, along with that in specialist training and retraining.
In accordance with Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between Uzbekistan and the European Union, a most-favored-nation regime has been in force between Uzbekistan and the Federal Republic in trade relations. The Uzbek-German commerce and economic ties have been enhancing consistently. It has been manifest, among other things, in the growing bilateral trade turnout. In excess of a hundred joint ventures set up with participation of German investors and nearly sixty representative offices of German businesses are currently operating in Uzbekistan.
Memorandum of understanding envisioning interaction in privatization and public property management was signed 2009 in Berlin between Germany’s Federal Ministry of Finance and Uzbekistan’s State Property Committee, while the latter also inked a cooperation deal with German Society for International Cooperation in 2011.
As part of joint efforts aimed at materializing these documents, certain strides have been made thus far – via the interaction with Germany’s Indecon Consulting – in studying and synthesizing international practice in state property and corporate management.
Today’s event has included presentation of German experience in reforming the railway transport services and prioritizing state interests with regard to strategically vital property.
The meeting has offered a good opportunity for the two sides to exchange views on bolstering the cooperation ties between Uzbekistan and Germany, perfecting the mechanisms of experience and information sharing in public property management and privatization, elaborating and implementing promising joint projects.
