Siberian Branches of OJSC Ilim Group Prepares for Fire Season
OREANDA-NEWS. April 24, 2012. Ilim Group's logging branches in the Bratsk and Ust-Ilimsk Districts, the Irkutsk Oblast, are currently preparing for the upcoming fire season.
Planned comprehensive fire prevention activities in the Ust-Ilimsk Branch of Ilim Group include construction of 79 km of fire roads and creation of 583 km of mineralized belts.
In the most visited areas, such as forest roads intersections and rivers, picnic and smoking areas will be created and 53 fire safety awareness billboards will be installed.
The Branch in the Bratsk District plans to buy 2 shift cars, an all-road fire vehicle, a bulldozer, and a trawl. In addition, 3 modular fire extinguishing units (removable devices for logging machinery) will also be purchased.
As part of the preventive action plan aimed at forest fire protection, 61 warning signs will be installed in forests in May 2012. 113 km of forest and fire roads and 440 km of mineralized belts will be constructed and 30 pavilions for smoking and picnic will be created.
As a reminder, about 150 fires were extinguished in the Irkutsk Oblast by Ilim Group employees in 2011.
