The Project of Research and Development on Integrated Technologies in Advanced High Strength Thin Strip Steel in aspects of Products, Process and Equipment of Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. was awarded with the Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award(first class), reported the press-centre of Baosteel.

The awarded prizes are divided into the Natural Science Award, the Technological Invention Award, the Science and Technology Progress Award and the Enterprise Innovation Award.

The advanced high strength steel developed in the Project of Research and Development on Integrated Technologies in Advanced High Strength Thin Strip Steel in aspects of Products, Processes and Equipment is a kind of important materials to realize lightweight of automobile, energy conservation and pollution reduction, indicating the development direction of automotive steel.

It took five years to experience the research and development, it made great achievements in and fruitful results from the project. Baosteel initially developed a specilized R & D platform and multi-functional flexible production lines for the high-strength steel, production line is involved with ultra high strength steel varieties and its production technologies in 9 categories of and 24 kinds; Baosteel developed a technology of high speed and high hydrogen air injection cooling successfully, new type technology of water quenching, therefore, it achieved mass production of ultra high strength steel in varieties, thus, the steel are widely used in manufacturing automotive safety parts;

The development of advanced high-strength thin strip steel in products, processes and equipment and technology, the monopoly of the technology owned by the by foreign companies has been eliminated, in turn, it leads to the progress of the metallurgy and equipment manufacturing industries in China. The industry's technological progress. It has acquired 58 applied patents, including 30 invention patents thereof, and 69 technical know-hows from the Project , and it also completed the preparation 5 Chinese national standards of the series products of cold rolling automotive high strength steel; The products have been widely used in manufacturing the automobiles with those proprietary brands owned by the Chinese companies   and the brands owned by the joint ventures established by Chinese and foreign companies, and the products are being exported to overseas markets. It has been granted with the certifications  issued by the international famous enterprises, General Motors, U.S., Fiat of Italy and European Auto parts companies and others.

Baoshan Iron and Steel Industry Technology Service Company won the Enterprise Innovation Award (second class) by Based on construction of the core technical ability to adapt to the development of iron and steel industry quickly. In recent years, the company is constantly developing new products, the lots of results of self-developed research and development, such as the large-scale framework car, are widely used in Baosteel's production site, which strongly supports to meet the  demands of the main business, steel industry.
