Kyiv Center for Radiation Medicine to Receive Modern Equipment
OREANDA-NEWS. April 24, 2012. The Government will provide the state institution "National Research Center for Radiation Medicine of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine" with the most advanced medical equipment. Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said this during a visit to this center in Kyiv.
"Your chief physician gives us a list of all equipment and we will purchase it for you, so that such institutions should be modern and fully equipped. We will do it," said Mykola Azarov during communication with the medical personnel.
Prime Minister has also talked with patients, who in 1986 there were suffered acute radiation sickness. They thanked the Prime Minister for what the Cabinet of Ministers has increased pensions to Chornobyl disaster victims and in particular for disabled. "I would like to thank you, that to liquidators who suffered by radiation sickness have been raised pensions, that is now it is possible to live on a pension with dignity," said the liquidator.
In response, Mykola Azarov has stressed that the Government in the future continues to support Chernobyl disaster victims: "Our task - that those who actually suffered, have received due attention from the state." "And last year the Government decided to raise pensions to disabled-liquidators of 1-3 degrees of disability. What we could do within our capabilities - we did, and this work will be continued," stated Prime Minister.
Moreover, Mykola Azarov has promised patients the Government will also resolve the problem of providing the Kyiv Center for Radiation Medicine with drugs, as well as other medical institutions. "Patients are complaining that sometimes they do not have enough money for medicines. We resolve this problem. We have easy approach thereto - there where people have really sacrificed their health, the state must, using all possible opportunities, compensate people losing health. I believe that these medical institutions that are engaged in treatment, rehabilitation and preserving health should be provided with the most modern equipment and fully equipped with medicines needed to treat patients, and we will do it," said Prime Minister.
Mykola Azarov has thanked the Chornobyl victims for their feat and noted that as of economic growth the social benefits to Chernobyl disaster victims will be increased.
Recall, the Prime Minister personally decided to check the state institution "National Research Center for Radiation Medicine of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine" thereupon on April 20 the PM was informed by Chernobyl disaster victims during a meeting about problems with medical care of this center.
