Baosteel Reports on its Work in Chinese Kunlun Station
OREANDA-NEWS. April 23, 2012. Nameplate of Baosteel will shine again in China’s scientific investigation station of inland southern polar region. According to reporter from Baosteel Engineering & Technology Group South Pole project department, Baosteel Engineering would undertake the project as EPC general contractor, reported the press-centre of Baosteel.
Engineering project of China’s scientific investigation station, Kunlun station, in inland southern polar region by Baosteel Engineering, located at top point ice dome A region, is collaboration for the first time between Baosteel Engineering and Polar Research Institute of China. Project covers two parts: basic construction, including 2nd phase multi-purpose building, garage, collection and convenience system, outer network, ice-center probing and emergency area experiment scaffold, etc.; and equipment part of electromechanical integrated entities, including dual energy integrated boiler system, heat recycling mechanics, oxygen generation and power generation system.
Baosteel Engineering optimized former design scheme based on environmental conditions of approximately 5000m in latitude, -58.4c of annual average temperature and approximately 57660Pa of barometric pressure. Manuscript of the scheme passed assessments of the panel formed by specialists in units of China Space Civil & Building Engineering Design Research Institute, Shanghai Municipality Xuhui District Quality and Technology Supervision Bureau, and State Oceanic Administration Shanghai Polar Research Institute, etc.
Related project equipment purchase already started in full scope to ensure all electromechanical equipments would arrive at Shanghai port within delivery schedule and be sent to the South Pole together with “Xuelong” scientific investigation ship.
