OREANDA-NEWS. April 23, 2012. In the wake of the subsoil use meeting held in Khanty-Mansiisk, TNK-BP informs that, reported the press-centre of TNK-BP:

1. TNK-BP is consistently implementing a comprehensive program for integrity and modernization of the pipeline infrastructure in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area and a program for remediation of legacy lands contaminated in the Soviet period when hydrocarbons were produced without due regard to environmental protection.

2. All new facilities of TNK-BP are fully compliant with the highest industrial safety and environmental protection standards.

3. The Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area is one of the largest oil and gas provinces of Russia. Oil production in this area was started in the 1960s. Subsidiaries of all leading oil companies of the country work here. Historical problems with land contamination in this region are well known, and their solution requires joint efforts of all oil and gas companies working in the region, administration of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area, and dedicated federal ministries and agencies.

TNK-BP is open for cooperation and calls all concerned parties to a constructive dialog for improvement of the ecological situation in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area.
