Power Distribution of Moldova Indends to Raise Electricity Tariffs
OREANDA-NEWS. April 23, 2012. The requests to raise the electricity tariffs for final users were filed to the National Energy Regulatory Agency of Moldova by all three power distribution enterprises of Moldova, RED “Union Fenosa”, RED-Nord and RED Nord-Vest, ANRE informs.
They requested to raise tariffs for power distributed to final users by 9% to 12%. The requests were filed since on April, 1 the old contracts on electricity supply to Moldova expired. Moldova purchased electricity from Moldovan hydro power plant located in Transdniestria and owned by INTER RAO UES and Ukrainian company DTEK Power Trade, the subsidiary of the larges private power supplier of Ukraine DTEK.
Both suppliers raised the selling price for electricity by 13,1%, from 6,1 to 6,9 cents per kWh. Thus, since April 1, 2011 three power distributors of Moldova, RED “Union Fenosa”, RED-Nord and RED Nord-Vest have purchased electricity at a new price. That is why they requested ANRE to raise the prices for final consumers. At present, final users hocked up to RED “Union Fenosa” are paying 1,48 leis for 1 kWh. Consumers of RED-Nord and RED Nord-Vest are paying 1,57 leis for 1 kWh.
In addition, Moltelectrica, state enterprise, requested the Agency to increase the power transport tariff from 6,76 bans to 10,73 bans explaining that the costs of the enterprise also grew. On April, 20 the Agency starts public consultations with representatives of all the three power distributors of Moldova on the tariffs raise. The ultimate tariff for consumer will be approved by the Agency when it makes the decision on establishment of a new power transport tariff of Moldelectrica.
